2011 'Ironman N.Z'll

A Maori canoe comes out of the darkness each year to welcome the athletes just before the race begins.

This image portrays very well the wet conditions that greeted everyone on this day.

It rained all day during the 2011 IMNZ according to the race reports and photos I have seen.

The overcast sky would keep the light very dim during most of the swim.

Definetly not a day for tinted swim goggles.
